Dear Friends and Art lovers,
Fresh canvas will be keeping me out of trouble for the winter , locally made, custom stretched, nice, heavy weight canvas.
My work is being included in a publication of Artists of British Columbia, Volume 4 along side some of my favourite artists. I couldn't be more excited.
I received news that Walking on Heads , my charming imposter : a cautionary tale by Dania Matiation will have an official launch very soon. I'll post the date as soon as it's confirmed. If you have not already read this little gem keep it in mind for your next read. I was honoured to have Dania request my piece, Growing Protection for the cover .
Eleven Equal Artists will re occur as a Pop-Up Gallery again this August 16/17/18, 2013 . Last summer's show at the Seaside Centre exceeded our expectations. Here is a short video of the Opening Power of Paint.
ZOOM {pg 18/19} a specialty magazine showcasing life on the Sunshine Coast did a beautiful spread for Eleven Equal Artists.
Last summer I created The Orb for the The Synchronicity Festival, a stunning festival in the rainforest on the Sunshine Coast ,B.C. The sculpture turned in to the true meaning of public art as people felt compelled to add rocks with handwritten notes and saying . I found this guesture very moving .
The Orb is inspired from my childhood obsession with stars and drawing stars. My focus turned into circle shapes and circle shapes turned into orbs paintings. I know I wanted to create a 3D orb using 3 circles. I hand built a maquette with wire. When I put the 3 circle shapes together to create the orb shape. I saw the star at the top and the bottom of the orb. I had gone full circle back to my childhood obsession with stars. Play brought me here. Local company Ox+Monkey then fabricated the Orb maquette in aluminum so I could share it with you.
Regards, Nadina
